AN ORDINANCE TO PROHIBIT SCAVENGING IN CONTAINERS OR RECEPTACLES

PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that the Tazewell County Board of Supervisors will hold a public hearing on MARCH 3, 2025 at 6:30 PM, or as soon thereafter as may be heard at the County Administration Building, 197 Main Street, Tazewell, Virginia, to consider public comment regarding the Board of Supervisors intent to enact an Ordinance to prohibit persons from scavenging in containers and receptacles that are used for the purpose of trash disposal. The ordinance would make such prohibited conduct and violation thereof a Class 1 Misdemeanor. The Board of Supervisors may enact this ordinance, or amend the same and then enact, immediately after the Public Hearing. A copy of the proposed ordinance will be posted at the Tazewell County Circuit Court Clerk’s Office, on the County’s website www.tazewellcounty.org, and is available at the County Administration Building, 197 Main Street, Tazewell, Virginia 24651. NOTICE OF SETTING OF 2026 REAL PROPERTY TAXES
PLEASE TAKE NOTICE, pursuant to Sections 58.1-3007 and 58.1-3321 of the Code of Virginia (1950), as amended, that the Tazewell County Board of Supervisors will hold a public hearing on March 3, 2026 at 6:45 pm or as soon thereafter as may be practical, at the Tazewell County Administration Building, located at 197 Main Street, Tazewell, Virginia 24651, in the public meeting room to consider public comment regarding a proposed Ordinance to Establish Real Property Taxes for 2026.
EFFECTIVE RATE: The Board of Supervisors of Tazewell County, Virginia proposes to adopt a tax rate of $0.58 per $100 of assessed value. The proposed tax rate for 2026 is the same as the current tax rate. Individual property tax rates would remain the same. Any person wishing to speak at the hearing should appear at the time and place above listed to be heard. The Board may enact the Ordinance immediately following the public hearing or may defer action to a later meeting held in the same location.

AN ORDINANCE TO RENAME “COMMUNITY COLLEGE ROAD” AS “DR. CHARLES R. KING ROAD”
PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that the Board of Supervisors of Tazewell County, Virginia, will conduct a public hearing on MARCH 03, 2026 at 7:00 PM, or as soon thereafter as may be practical, at the Tazewell County Administration Building, located at 197 Main Street, Tazewell, Virginia 24651, and hereby gives its intent to adopt An Ordinance to Rename Community College Road as Dr. Charles R. King Road. Pursuant to Section 15.2-2019 of the Code of Virginia (1950), as amended. The Board will hear any comments or objections from the public regarding its intent, after which the Board of Supervisors may elect to enact the Ordinance and rename the entirety of the road. This would change the address of any persons living on the said road currently named Community College Road. All persons wishing to comment on the Ordinance are hereby invited to attend and state their views thereon. A copy of the proposed ordinance will be posted at the Tazewell County Circuit Court Clerk’s Office, on the County’s website www.tazewellcounty.org, and is available for inspection at the County Administration Building, 197 Main Street, Tazewell, Virginia 24651. RESOLUTION TO RATIFY THE 2019 RESOLUTION DECLARING TAZEWELL COUNTY, VIRGINIA A SECOND AMENDMENT SANCTUARY
PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that the Board of Supervisors of Tazewell County, Virginia, will conduct a public hearing on MARCH 03, 2026 at 7:15 PM, or as soon thereafter as may be practical, at the Tazewell County Administration Building, located at 197 Main Street, Tazewell, Virginia 24651, to receive public comment on the ratification of the 2019 Resolution Declaring Tazewell County, Virginia as a Second Amendment Sanctuary. In light of recent proposals in the General Assembly of Virginia, the Tazewell County Board of Supervisors shall consider re-affirming its commitment to serving the residents of Tazewell County and protecting the rights as reflected in the Second Amendment of the Constitution of the United States.
