David Larimer II is the Tazewell County Treasurer and was first elected in November 2011 and was then re-elected in 2015, in 2019, and in 2023 to serve additional four-year terms. He formerly served the citizens of Tazewell County and Southwest Virginia as a Legislative Director in the Senate of Virginia from 1994-2011.
David currently serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors for Clinch Valley Community Action Agency. He is also a member of the Bluefield College Board of Trustees, the Tazewell Rotary Club, the Tazewell County Farm Bureau, the Tazewell Baseball Boosters Board of Directors, and the Tazewell County Chamber of Commerce.
David is an active member of the Treasurers’ Association of Virginia and the Southwest Virginia Treasurer’s Association. He is also a member of the Virginia Government Finance Officers’ Association and the Virginia Association of Locally Elected Constitutional Officers.
He achieved his Master Governmental Treasurer designation through the University of Virginia’s Weldon Cooper Center in his first three years in office.
His previous public service includes serving as a member of the Tazewell Town Council for eleven years, a Board Member for Clinch Valley Medical Center for eleven years, President and Board Member of the Tazewell Area Chamber of Commerce, Chairman of the Board of Directors for Historic Crab Orchard Museum, a Board Member for Tazewell Little League Baseball & Softball, and a Board Member of the Jeffersonville Rescue Squad.
He is a graduate of Tazewell High School and an honors graduate of Bluefield College with a Bachelor of Science degree.
David and his wife Heather have two sons, Ty and Andrew, and they live on a farm in Thompson Valley.
