Barry L. Brooks, Jr.
Chief Brooks attended school in Tazewell and is a graduate of Pocahontas High. He began his Fire Service career in 1989 after serving in the United States Army. Chief Brooks served 24 years in the Tampa Bay area before returning to Tazewell County. He worked his way through the ranks of Lieutenant, Training Director, Shift Captain and Battalion Chief before retiring in 2013.
He also served as a Lead Instructor with Manatee Technical College on his days off (1995-2013). He taught the Fire Academy, EMT, and functioned as the Clinical Coordinator for the Paramedic program for 3 years. Chief Brooks also served on the Advisory Board as a Fire Representative.
Chief Brooks obtained an Associate Degree in Fire Science Technology, Bachelor's Degree in Business (Management) and a Master's Degree in Public Administration.
